MEDICAID PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

The options available are Supplemental Security Income, NJ Special Medicaid Program for Aged Blind and Disabled, NJ Workability and Medicaid only -CCP and Supports program. Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Federal income supplement program designed To help people who are “aged, blind, and/or disabled” who have little or no income. SSI provides monthly cash payment to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
New Jersey Special Medicaid Program for Aged, Blind and Disabled through NJ Family Care
A special New Jersey Medicaid program for people who are aged, blind, and/or disabled who were denied SSI or Medicaid because their income or resources were too high
New Jersey Workability
A special New Jersey Medicaid program for people who are blind, and/or disabled and whose work earnings and assets would otherwise make them ineligible for Medicaid. Enrollment into the program is based on availability of a funded slot.
Medicaid Only –Community Care Waiver Community Care Program (CCP) & Supports Program
Special program offered through the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) that provides State Plan Medicaid, in addition to, home and community-based services identified in the CCW and Supports Program to eligible individuals with ID/DD who have little/no income. Enrollment into the program is based on availability of a funded slot.
IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DDD- Rescinding of DDD COVID-19 Policy
With the release of recent State and Federal Policies on COVID-19, the Department of Human Services’ Division of Developmental Disabilities is rescinding the following Policy, effective immediately:
Residential, Day Program, and Support Coordinator COVID-19 Policy, issued on April 5, 2023.
In place of the above, all DDD/Medicaid Approved service providers, individuals, families, and other Stakeholders are directed as follows:
All DDD/Medicaid approved service providers must follow the most current infection prevention and control information/guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and New Jersey Department of Health (NJ DOH) on health issues that impact the population(s) they serve. This includes, but is not limited to: COVID-19, Influenza, etc. In all circumstances, DDD/Medicaid approved providers shall cooperate with Federal, State, and Local health officials.
