Peer EDUcation Series Webinar for Adults with Disabilities
The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and The Boggs Center are pleased to announce the first Peer EDUcation Series webinar for adults with disabilities, Sharing Strengths: Peer Education and the Lived Experiences of Self-Advocates.
This inaugural webinar will discuss the Peer EDUcation Series and include insights from adults with disabilities who use their experiences to guide and support others through their work as peer educators. It will also discuss the Personal Preference Program (PPP) and explore how it can be a helpful resource for people with disabilities in New Jersey.

DDD Dedicates Month of March to Choking Prevention Awareness
March 28 is National Choking Awareness Day, and the DDD Resource Team is dedicating the entire month to raising awareness about the risk of choking for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD), regardless of diet texture or consistency.
In-person trainings will be held for provider staff at 5 Commerce Way in Hamilton, NJ on March 11 and March 27 (registration required). And virtual trainings, open to anyone, will be held throughout the month.

Mental Health Resources
Crisis Assessment Response and Enhanced Services (CARES), administered through Trinitas Regional Medical Center Behavioral Health/RWJ Barnabas Health, provides crisis response and stabilization services for a period up to 120 days to adults (age 21 and older) with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). CARES staff are located in regional offices and respond anywhere in New Jersey to assist individuals with I/DD who are in mental health or behavioral crisis. CARES can prevent unnecessary hospitalizations by helping manage behavioral crises in place, and assisting individuals, family members and professional staff obtain needed expertise to support someone in crisis. CARES referrals can be made by calling 1-888-393-3007, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
